Pro Max · Gypsum board
Imported gypsum board for ceilings and partitions.
Strength
A board is bent until it breaks. IS 2095 sets the least load that it must carry.
Pro Max: supplier test certificate; each figure is a minimum. IS 2095 (Part 1): 500 N and 180 N for a 12.5 mm board; Pro Max is 12 mm. These are test loads on the board, not loads that you can hang from it.
Weight
One board on the scale. Easy for two people to carry, and the ceiling frame carries less.

Kilos in one board of 4 ft × 6 ft.
Pro Max: 15.3 kg, 1220 × 1830 × 12 mm. Gujarat boards are unbranded: 17 to 18 kg per board is what we see in the market. Per square metre, Pro Max is 6.85 kg at 12 mm; Gyproc publishes 7.56 kg for its 12.5 mm plain board. Choose the frame from the section maker’s span table.
Inside the board
Gypsum is set between two papers. Made on German machinery, with selected paper and chemicals.
Drawing of one board, not to scale: the board is 12 mm thick. The long edges are tapered and wrapped in paper.

One 24 mm tape closes each pair of boards at the two short ends. Start the tear at one end of the tape. It runs along the middle to the other end, and the pair comes apart. No knife.
On the ceiling
A level Metal-Max frame. Then the ivory face of each board.
The frame
A flat ceiling starts with a level frame. Metal-Max sections, marked METAL-MAX.

Common practice for a 12 mm board. The span and the load set the final spacing: use the Metal-Max table for your ceiling.
On the wall
Metal-Max studs at 610 mm. Then boards on both faces, with staggered joints.
Where it goes
Ceilings, partitions, wall lining, bulkheads and coves. Inside, in dry areas.
On site
A knife, a screwdriver and a jointing knife. Fix the boards dry. Then finish the joints.

Score the face, snap the board, cut the back paper. Set each screw head just under the paper. For dry internal areas only.
Standards
As the maker states for this board. Ask us for the certificates.

Galvanised steel ceiling sections or partition studs. A lighter board puts less weight on the frame. Common practice is intermediate channels at 1220 mm and ceiling sections at 457 mm, and studs at 610 mm. Use the Metal-Max table for your span. We make Metal-Max sections at Panvel.
Score the face paper with a knife along a straightedge. Snap the board. Cut the back paper.
